Biking at Night

Posted by: Alexis In: Family| Leisure| Windsor

Tonight after dinner, we biked to the nearest Tim Horton’s for some dessert.
It was refreshing to deviate from our usual routine. The temperature was perfect and it felt good to be outdoors.
Paula had a minor accident, though. We were crossing a major intersection and she missed the ramp down from the sidewalk to [...]

Too Busy to Blog

Posted by: Alexis In: Family| Leisure| Windsor

I can’t believe it’s been 5 days since my last blog post. Well, it’s happened, I’ve become too busy to blog.
We spent the weekend in Art’s place and when we’re there I usually forget to post.
Also, we’ve been planning for our very first Canadian vacation — a trip to Canada’s Wonderland in Toronto! We’ve got [...]

Biking!

Posted by: Alexis In: Family| Leisure| Windsor

For the first time in my life, I have a bike! My parents never wanted me to bike or skate or skateboard, and they never bought any of us a bike. So now that we don’t have a car yet, we bought everybody bikes. Mine and Paula’s are brand new, but bought on clearance, of [...]

Crafty Saturday

Posted by: Alexis In: Family| Leisure| Sewing/Crafts

We got the kids up this morning to go to my all-time favorite store, Michaels. They were having a crafting demonstration and the kids only had to pay $5 for the materials. Anton and Isay were to young and too old, respectively, so they went to Best Buy with Bobby while Paula and I attended [...]

Live Animals in the Library

Posted by: Alexis In: Family| Leisure| Windsor

Yesterday we went to the nearest public library for a free “show” entitled, “Zoo 2 U”. A man, obviously passionate about animals, had brought about a dozen of them to the library for kids to see and touch.
Once again, we were late for this event and when we arrived, the iguana was being showcased to [...]

We trooped to Devonshire Mall today to watch Circus Jonathon, the One-Man Circus. We missed the first 10 minutes of the show, but we still enjoyed it. Circus Jonathon can juggle 5 bowling pins or 3 bowling balls — while balancing on a ball or riding a unicycle. I just hope Anton doesn’t try to [...]

Bowling on a Week Night

Posted by: Alexis In: Family| Leisure

We went bowling with some Pinoy families tonight. My former officemates in UNICEF would never believe it, because I never played before. I would just cheer from the sidelines and take pictures. But tonight I didn’t want to be a kill-joy so I joined.
I sucked. Which is why I never played in the first place. [...]

Feedback From Clients

Precise, Interesting Writing

“Alexis’ writing is always precise, to-the-point, and interesting. In UNICEF, she covered a range of topics from highly technical (health, education, child rights) to easy-to-read human interest stories of the struggles and triumphs of children and their families. Rarely was her work further edited!”
