Circus Jonathon, the One-Man Circus

We trooped to Devonshire Mall today to watch Circus Jonathon, the One-Man Circus. We missed the first 10 minutes of the show, but we still enjoyed it. Circus Jonathon can juggle 5 bowling pins or 3 bowling balls — while balancing on a ball or riding a unicycle. I just hope Anton doesn’t try to do the ball-balancing trick! Circus Jonathon also does balloon twisting. All in all, the kids were quite mesmerized and entertained.

Maybe it is a good thing that I haven’t sent the two girls to summer day camp. They’re keeping busy with all sorts of things.

When Anton is napping, they troop to the basement and have “art club”. Right now, they’re building a house out of popsicle sticks. Today, they made furniture and even placed curtains on the windows. When they finish the house, they’ll decorate some T-shirts we bought in Michaels for $3.50 each, using iron-on transfers that they just went crazy over.

They’ve also choreographed a dance and performed it for Anton and me this afternoon.

Every afternoon, they go to the park to ride bikes or just hang around. Isay often runs into school mates on the street. I’ve noticed children younger than Paula going to the park by themselves.

Despite not having summer day camp, it seems that the kids are having a fun summer so far. Tomorrow we’re going to the library for another free performance. This time it’s something about animals.

Sounds like a fun summer so far! Lec, you might also want to check out activities that your park district offers. Here, our park district already started the film festivals for free. The children could also sign up for free swimming lessons (among other things).
