How to Track Email Metrics

If you want to improve the results you get from email marketing, then you have to measure, measure, measure!

Below, I show you how I measure the performance of nurturing emails:

A Word About Sales Emails

I forgot to mention that for sales emails, you'll want to add two columns:

  • number of sales
  • revenue - number of sales X price 
  • conversion rate - number of sales / number of email recipients X 100

This way, you'll be able to look back and see exactly which emails brought the highest number of sales.

By the way, tracking email performance like this is how I know that last-chance emails usually bring in 30% of the total sales of a campaign.
