“Does Article Marketing REALLY Work?”

That was one of the questions that came up in the first live Internet marketing meeting I ever attended.

I answered confidently, “Yes, it does!”

Proof That Article Marketing Works

I answered affirmatively, because I have seen first-hand how article marketing can keep traffic flowing into a site… which is just one of the many benefits of article marketing.

You see, a couple of years ago, I bought a site. The owner told me the site had been neglected. No new content had been published for months. No effort had been made to promote the site whatsoever for a year or more.

And yet, when I looked at Google Analytics, I saw that the site was getting an average of 50 unique visitors a day.

Google Analytics also told me the sources of that traffic: search engines (both Google and Yahoo!), and various article directories.

This is why I knew I had to include article marketing in the list of topics for the Ask the Blog Traffic Experts webinar series.

Other Benefits of Article Marketing

That said, traffic is only one of the good things you get from article marketing. You can also:

  • build your credibility as an expert in your industry
  • grow your list
  • make affiliate sales
  • attract potential clients and customers
  • get the attention of joint venture partners

I believe in article marketing so much that I used to have a weekly schedule of writing and submitting articles. I succeeded in building hundreds of backlinks to a nice blog, which is now getting an average of 150 unique visitors a day pretty much on autopilot.

The Problem with Article Marketing

However, when I started getting client work regularly, my article marketing efforts stopped. Between posting regularly in my blogs and writing for clients, I feel all “writed out”!

    Hi Lexi,

    Thanks for the info. I just started article marketing last week. At first it was very hard for me to write an article, but now things seem to be flowing better and I have been trying to write one a day, hoping the results will be good! I have been mainly trying to market towards Movie Posters

      @Mark – Yes, article marketing works! As long as you’re using the right anchor text and writing compelling author boxes, you should start seeing results in a few weeks. And those links are going to be around for a very, very long time. Good luck!
